Farewell for now!

In order to pack up our house and move over the next month, I have closed my Etsy shop. Once we are settled, I look forward to taking your Spring orders. While I hate to miss the holiday season and the timing is less than ideal, I'm excited about our new adventure and will be back up and running before you know it. Thanks to everyone for your patronage over the last couple of months and for your understanding.

Happy holidays!

Falling for leaves and nuts about acorns!

I can't help but be inspired by the beautiful autumn colors I see everywhere I turn....the trees in the front yard, the pumpkin patches at every corner, and the store aisles that are lined with rich Fall decor. Before I turn my attention to Christmas and abandon this season for the year, I have one last Fall burlap door hanger to premier......
While it can be personalized and you know I love to do it, I truly think this one is best left as is. I love the gold paint against the burnt orange background and the combination of the mustard and chocolate-colored acorn that is attached to the top. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Till next time,

Gosh almighty!

So, after a lot of begging and pleading from the Ole Miss fans in my family, I finally conceded and designed a Colonel Reb burlap door hanger. It was probably the most difficult and time consuming of all the ones I've made so far, (hello? have you ever tried painting a HUMAN on burlap? sheesh!) so I'm a little scared to even put it out there. But, after all that effort, I figured it would be a shame not to. Here he is!! Hotty toddy, Ole Miss fans! This one's for you!

There's still plenty of football season left to enjoy this on your front door so let me know if you are interested!

One little Indian boy...

When I recall the Thanksgiving holidays of my childhood, images of sweet potato casserole are equally paralleled by that of my annual Thanksgiving pageant at school. One year I was a pilgrim with a stiff white pinafore and a square cardboard hat and the next, an Indian girl with braids and a dress made of a brown paper bag that was fringed at the bottom. These are the memories I hope my children will make and keep as well, and so this is what will be hanging on my front door come November 1st.
I know, I know, it's not even Halloween yet and I'm already talking about Thanksgiving. But, I'm already getting inquiries, so I figured I'd put it out there. Some of you are REALLY on top of things, I might add! I can change the hair color of the little boy if requested and may even add some braids on the next one if that peeks anyone's interest. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!

Rah! Rah! Rah!

Football season is officially here and even though I do not watch a lick of sports, I know this to be true for two reasons:
 1.  My husband is giddy and yelling crazy things at the television
 2.  I have more orders for custom burlap football door hangers than I know what to do with (not that I'm complaining ;)

Here are some of the most recent:

And finally, my all-time favorite...it was commissioned by a woman whose husband is hoping for a football team in terms of the number of kids he hopes they will have. Yikes!

If you don't see your favorite team here, that doesn't mean I don't or can't make a football for them....just means I may not have done it yet, so don't be afraid to ask. I love custom orders and would love to help you show your team spirit!

A little bit corny

Call me crazy, but I LOVE candy corn! I mean it. I'm what you would call obsessed. The only candy I like more than candy corn is mellowcreme pumpkins and since they are essentially the same thing, I'd say it's definitely my favorite candy. I knew the candy corn craze gene had been passed on to my oldest child, Gray, when his teacher told me he had been put in time-out several times for swiping the whole bowl at his school's Halloween party. And this was when he wasn't even a year old! Now he's in full addict mode and I use them as bribes. But I'm already stressed about what to do when they are gone from the shelves.

So, when the time came for me to make a Halloween burlap door hanger, I asked around for what people wanted to see. When Gray suggested a candy corn, I knew it had to be! So, here it is! Hope you enjoy it!
This can be made with the above wording, with a family's name, "Happy Halloween", "It's All About the Candy", or any other wording of your choice. You can even opt to leave it plain if you like. Either way, I'd say it's pretty sweet, right?

Thanks for stopping by!

An apple a day

If you're a mom, it's likely that your kids are either already back in school or heading back there shortly. As a mom myself, I feel for all of those mommies that are having trouble letting go, worried about all the new schedules and changes, or just plain missing their babies. But I also think about those poor teachers out there and all the anxiety they must be going through during the "Back to School" season....getting their rooms ready, learning the names and ways of all new children, and mentally preparing themselves for a long year.  Help your child's teacher start the new school year off right with this apple burlap hanger for her classroom door, and who knows? You might just become the teacher's pet!
Have a great day!

Waiting for "The Great Pumpkin"

Like so many, I grew up watching Charlie Brown specials and reading "Peanuts" in the Sunday funnies. One of my favorite movies was always "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", in which Linus anxiously awaits the arrival of "The Great Pumpkin" on Halloween night. If you are wondering where I'm going with this, sit tight....
I've been polling everyone I know for the past couple of weeks, asking what they'd like to see in a Fall burlap door hanger design (other than the cotton boll I had already made). I got lots of suggestions and ideas but the one thing I heard over and over again was the need for a pumpkin that could be used ALL Fall long, and not just for Halloween. I promised I would work on something and the wait for the "Great pumpkin" is finally over, I'm happy to report! Let me know if you guys like it...
It can be done with a name (as shown above) or with other wording ("Happy Fall Y'all", etc). Or you can opt to leave it plain like this.
Either way, I think it's a great way to welcome your friends and the Fall season!

Thanks for stopping by!

Très chic, oui?

Most people hear my accent and take me for a Mississippi gal, but truth be told, I'm a little Cajun girl at heart. I was born in Lafayette, Louisiana and while I only lived there for 8 years, that was enough to instill in me a love for all things Acadian.....crawfish, spanish moss, Hays Town architecture, and of course, the fleur de lis. Not only is it a symbol of style and sophistication, but the logo for one of the most beloved football teams....the comeback kings...the Saints! The below fleur de lis burlap door hanger says "Bienvenue" or "Welcome" in French, but it can be customized with any name or phrase ("Who Dat", "Go Saints", etc). I also bought some nifty gold paint today and will try that out as the background on the next run.

Au revoir, ma chere!

Say yes to the dress!

When I think about weddings, I think about white doves, wedding bells, french tulle, champagne, and bubbles.....but most of all, I think about THE DRESS! Isn't that what it's all about anyway? (Sorry guys....it's the truth).  This wedding dress burlap door hanger is such a fun way to "dress" your door during the weeks (or months ha ha!) leading up to the big day! Or how cute would this be on the brides room door at the church, the front door of a wedding shower, or the door to your bachelorette boudoir? So, do you love it? I have to say, I DO!!!!

 See you gals later!

Another cotton-pickin' door hanger....

So, I know it's 100 degrees outside (literally), but the Fall season is just around the corner and believe it or not, I am already thinking about what I can decorate my door with come September. When a friend suggested that I try my hand at a cotton boll, one of the most beloved symbols of harvest time here in good ole Memphis, I knew I was up for the challenge. I made this one for a friend to give to her mom on her birthday. I hope when she sees it, she is reminded of her days growing up around cotton fields.
If you have another door hanger idea you want to see for Fall, I'm all ears! Have a great weekend!

Roll Tide!

I can hardly believe that football season is just 6 weeks away, and even though I didn't go to a big university with a division 1 football team, I can still appreciate that passion we get for one team or another. I'm a Vols fan by marriage, an Ole Miss girl by blood, but will always be a Millsaps Majors girl at heart....I was the dance team captain after all! Ha ha! Here's one of two footballs I did for an Alabama fan recently.  I can't wait to show it to her and hope she falls in love with it, just like I did. I'm a sucker for houndstooth! Thanks Julie!

Stay tuned for othe Fall favorites,

A-B-C, easy as 1-2-3!

I promised that when I finished the burlap door hanger with the fun black and white stripes, I'd post a pic....so here goes! It's for a wedding gift that a friend of mine is giving a neighbor. This "G" is raw burlap background with black trim and lettering and the black and white striped ribbon on the wire hanger.
In the middle of working on the "G", I got a request for another "C"....but this time the request was for a "scripty, fun" one. It is raw burlap also but with chocolate brown trim and a lime green/chocolate brown harlequin ribbon to coordinate.
These burlap letter door hangers are great for wedding gifts, shower gifts, birthdays, or your own front door. Just tell me your initials, colors, and wording....easy as A-B-C!
See you again soon!

Oh my stars!

Painting the stars on this cute sailboat burlap door hanger sure does have me appreciating the ones that were painstakingly sewn by hand by Betsy Ross all those years ago. Whew! But, it turned out so cute and I'm so excited to show my friend, who plans to bring this burlap door sign to her parents' lake house for Labor Day weekend.

Here's a sailboat burlap door sign that I did earlier in the summer, just in time to hang on my front door for the 4th of July. But the great thing about these red, white and blue sailboat burlap door hangers is that they can be used for all three of the national holidays, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, or year-round if you just want to show your love for your country!
There's still time to get one for yourself before Labor Day, so let me know if you are interested!

Till next time....

Seeing stripes

I don't know if it's the stripes or what, but when I saw this fabulous ribbon today, I got dizzy with excitement!
How fabulous will this be against a burlap letter door hanger trimmed in black? Hubby's at a guy's night tonight, providing the perfect opportunity for me to get started. I'll update with a pic when I get done!
Catch you next time....

Crazy about cupcakes!

When a friend saw the cupcake burlap door hanger I made for my daughter's 2nd birthday a few weeks ago, she ordered one for her boys' birthday party, which is tomorrow. Doesn't the precious plaid ribbon just "take the cake" on this burlap door sign?

My first etsy customer (woo hoo!!) also ordered a burlap cupcake door hanger for her twin sons' birthday and I think it turned out so cute. Sure hope she agrees! I'll mail it out Monday....wish me luck on completing my first Etsy purchase! Who knew there were so many details to completing a single order? But oh so fun, too!
Thanks for checking in!

Funsie onesies!

I've had two requests in the last week or so for baby boy onesie burlap door hangers, which are so fun to do! I am loving the wire "coat hanger" at the top, which makes it so easy to hang and so appropriate! The first request was for one that would match an ivory, baby blue and chocolate brown nursery. Though it was used as a decoration for a baby shower, the hostesses also wanted the new-mom-to-be to be able to use it on her hospital and nursery doors. I love how the monogram pops against the neutral background!
The second request was for a tried and true chocolate and brown onesie....such a cute combo! This customer is using this burlap door sign as a decoration for an upcoming baby shower and then also as a hostess gift for the new-mom-to-be. Now that's what I call bang for a buck!

If you know a new mom that would love a burlap onesie door hanger, let me know and we can work together on a custom piece with the perfect colors and style.

Have a great 4th of July weekend everyone! I'm going to be celebrate Mississippi Gulf Coast style with some seafood, old friends and family!

Little boy blue

I got a frantic call two days ago from a sweet friend who is less than 1 week away from giving birth to her second child, a sweet baby boy named George. So even though I am leaving town tomorrow morning, I decided I couldn't turn her down when she asked if I could do a personalized canvas for George's nursery. She plans to use it for a door hanger at the hospital and then above his crib when they get back home. For a frazzled soon-to-be Mom of 2, she still knew exactly what she wanted (my kind of gal!).....a bold monogram against a striped background in the colors baby blue, cream, taupe and chocolate brown. I hope she likes it as much as I do and that it gets there in time....she called me just moments ago and she's having contractions 7 minutes apart! Yikes! Sending prayers and happy thoughts your way, MMN!
This custom canvas is 16x20 and ideal for a hospital door or in the nursery on the door, over the crib, or on top of a changing table. Name or monogram canvases make sweet baby shower gifts and can be completely customized by color, patterns, design, etc.
Until next time...

"C" how it turned out!

I hope my friend likes her initial burlap door hanger as much as I do! It reminds me of a beach chair....perfect for this H-O-T Memphis weather! I'm headed to meet her now for the big unveiling....wish me luck!
This burlap initial door sign can be customized with your choice of colors, patterns, or font style. So many options, so few doors!

Thanks for stopping by!

The perfect paisley

At the risk of spoiling the surprise for her, I just have to share.....My sweet friend and first "official" customer challenged me to create a custom burlap door hanger for her using the colors turquoise and red. When I saw this ribbon today, I got super excited! I know it's going to be the perfect inspiration and accent for her door sign. Stay tuned for pictures of the finished product!

See ya next time!
